Director & Consultant Clinical Lead

Dr. Neil J. Kitchiner is responsible for the day to day running of the Veterans' NHS Wales, including service supervision and facilitating training of the veterans’ therapists (VTs).  Neil is also responsible for the Cardiff and Vale UHB veterans’ hub, including assessment, signposting, offering brief psychological therapy, and follow-up appointments. Neil served as a Captain in the Army Reserve at 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital, Army Reserve Centre, Cardiff between 2011-2014.  He deployed to Afghanisatn Oct 13 - Jan 14 as part of the Tri-service Field Mental Health Team, OP HERRICK 19A.

 
Veteran Therapists

Clare Crole-Rees started working at Veterans' NHS Wales in August 2013 working one session per week on the 3MDR research study.  Clare is a HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist and BABCP Accredited CBT therapist.  She completed her training in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy in 2014. Clare developed a special interest in Trauma whilst working for the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at the Maudsley Hospital in London before joining Veterans' NHS Wales. Currently seconded to C&V Traumatic Stress Service. She provides evidence-based psychological treatment for Veterans with PTSD and a range of other difficulties. These therapies include EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Clare has a special interest in working with clients who present with Complex PTSD reactions and also provide Couples CPT for Veterans and their Partners. 

Rachel Vanstone started working at Veterans' NHS Wales, March 2017 and now works 3 days per week.  Rachel is a HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist and CBT therapist.

Jo Delahay started working at Veterans' NHS Wales, in 2015 and now works one session per week.  Jo is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and BABCP Accredited CBT therapist. 

 

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr David Seeley provides one session per month (4 hrs) for second opinions, medication reviews with follow-up.

 

Co-ordinator

TBC in April 2018. The co-ordinator is responsible for liaising with the other administrators across Wales. They also accepts referrals, confirming their assessment, and maintaining the veterans’ data base. The Co-ordinator provides the first point of contact into the service and provides information as required to both veterans and other agencies. They will also maintain regular contact with all veterans once assessed.
